still life

I'm still experimenting with textures. This still life photo of a bowl of apples was taken for a Bay Area Photo Club assignment many months ago, long forgotten, and now resurrected to practice on. I think the texture definitely gives it a new feel - good or bad, I'm not sure. But more interesting for sure.

  1. I like the texture. It gives the photo a painterly look to it.

  2. I agree with DHaass, the texture adds a unique quality to the image. I wish that the lighting was not so even. I think a directional light that cast more highlights and shadows might add to the texture look. Good job.

  3. I agree with both previous comments. The texture definitely add to the image. You stop thinking "photo" and think "painting" or "picture" instead. Your strengths do not typically include still lifes, but this one works...

  4. I really like your use of texture on this shot. The professional looking results have me thinking kithchen or restaurant decor, placemats maybe!

    Well done!
