Big Tex in better times -- 10/1/12. If you missed the news, Texas State Fair icon "Big Tex"
burned to the ground on Friday after an electrical fire. I can remember going to the fair when I was a kid. Big Tex was always a fascination for me -- awe-inspiring to a kid, but somehow creepily animatronic at the same time. Sad news, but I'm sure next October, he will be rebuilt bigger and better than ever. The human (and animatronic) spirit is strong.
